WE WILL NOT BE SILENT

Team

Like so many of you, I have been stunned and saddened by the death of George Floyd. I have struggled to make sense of the viciousness and find appropriate words for a response. At the same time, I recognize that being silent is not an option. Being silent is part of the problem.

And while I may not have all answers for the systemic racism that has clearly been allowed to continue in our culture – I am committed to being part of the solution and I am prepared to do my part through action.

When founding CASTUS several years ago, our company values were carefully and deliberately chosen. Our values are honesty, integrity, and hard work. Those values have never been more important than right now. As such, they will guide my response, and the response of our organization. We will lead by example.

We will be honest with ourselves and others that there is a pervasive problem of racism in today’s society.

We will act with integrity to treat all people with respect and dignity. We will not tolerate any form of discrimination and we will support those who are being treated unfairly in any way we possibly can.

Finally, we will work hard to create change. Through our own actions and by directly supporting the actions of organizations already fighting injustice and violence, we will work hard to create a lasting impact.

Our first action, as a company, was to make a donation to the NAACP. But this will not be our last action. We are committed to continually seeking to eradicate racism and constantly supporting those who are marginalized, mistreated, or intimidated. We will not be silent.

I cannot begin to understand the pain and suffering experienced by George Floyd, his family, and the many others who have personally experienced violence, hatred, and racism. But I can pledge to take action and be part of the solution.

With sincerity and humility,

Damon Claus

Chief Executive Officer, CASTUS
